1. Pick your frame size.

Element frames come in sizes from 4 to 28 positions, with support for up to 40 faders in multiple linked frames. A wide variety of module types provide control of mic/line inputs, phone systems and other devices. Enhanced, integrated features for phones and codecs include auto-assigned mix-minus on each channel, easy talkback for remote talent cueing, one-button off-air phone record mode, and optional integrated Telco line switching. Each user can save unique profiles allowing different preferences, layouts and defaults for a variety of shows and talent. Includes digital EQ, dynamic mic processing, and many other advanced features, such as sharing of audio resources and associate machine logic across multiple studios. Use your favorite VGA monitor for metering and options display.

What frame size should I order?
Element frame sizes are shown in "positions." Each position equals the space of one fader. One 4-position Monitor module is required per console. Determine the number of faders you'll use during a typical show, and add 4.

2. Choose a color. Element modules come in your choice of Silver on Charcoal or Bronze on Charcoal, as shown above. Choose the one that harmonizes best with your studio decor.

3. Choose your modules. First, pick a Monitor module style:

2-Fader + Monitor module: Space-saving module with two faders includes numeric entry/dial pad, basic Monitor/Headphone controls and SoftKnob overbridge control set with alphanumeric display. 100mm long-life conductive plastic faders. Rotary knob can be programmed to trim source or fader gain when turned; invokes Options screen when pressed. Includes alphanumeric channel displays. Available in standard and motorized-fader versions. Take 4 positions. Standard Monitor/Navigation module: Master module with Deluxe monitor, headphone and preview volume controls, dedicated selection keys for Program, Aux Sends or External monitor. Includes numeric entry/dialpad for use with Element phone modules and nav pad for onscreen options control. Profanity delay controls (can be linked to external delay unit. Takes 4 positions.

Now, choose additional modules:

4-Fader module: 4 fader module for use with any line, mic, hybrid or codec sources. Alphanumeric channel displays, 100mm long-life conductive-plastic faders. Rotary knob can be programmed to trim source or fader gain when turned; invokes Options screen when pressed. Available in standard and motorized-fader versions. Takes 4 positions. Call Controller module: 2 fader telephone control module features integrated Call Controller with Status Symbols, controls Telos 12 and 24-line telephone systems (Nx12, TWOX12, Series 2101). Rotary knob can be programmed to trim source or fader gain when turned; invokes Options screen when pressed. Available in standard and motorized-fader versions. Takes 4 positions.

Production module: Gives board op direct access to frequently-used production options, such as Send bus levels, EQ settings, and panning tools. Includes overbridge selector panel with alphanumeric source display. Takes 2 positions. Film-cap Switch module: Film-cap buttons give talent access to often-used machine-control or routing commands. Includes overbridge filler panel. Occupies 1 frame position; comes in 5-button and 10-button sizes.

SmartSwitch module: Program these backlit LCD button panels using Axia PathfinderPC software for control of machine logic or routing functions. Assigned functions, colors and text can be programmed to change dynamically in response to use. In-button LCD display shows function readout. Occupies 1 frame position; comes in 5-button and 10-button sizes. OLED Intercom module: Part of the Axia IP Intercom system, puts broadcast-featured intercom system right in the console. Mic audio is taken directly from the console operator’s mic; speaker audio is directed to the console’s preview speaker. Bright, easy-to-read OLED displays. Station presets and GPIO functions are programmed using any standard Web browser. Takes 1 or 2 positions.

Film-cap Intercom module: 10-Station intercom module works like OLED module above, but has 10 LED-lit film-cap buttons instead to allow economical Intercom integration with any console. Station presets and GPIO functions are programmed using any standard Web browser. Occupies 1 frame position. Module blank: Filler plate for open module positions. Each one occupies 1 frame position.

4. Choose your studio accessories. Element has a host of accessories designed to help talent work more efficiently. Here are some you might find useful:

Studio Accessory panels: These 6x2" panels can be flush-mounted into studio furniture or control turrets (with accessory rack mount, right). Studio Accessory panel rack mount: 4RU rack frame mounts up to 6 Element studio accessory panels for turret or rack locations. Panels attach to Element CANBus network via daisy-chain using standard CAT-5 cables.

Element Desktop Touchscreen Timer: Desktop accessory gives studio guests, producers and show hosts access to functions only the board operator had until now. Touch-sensitive interface with digital and analog time-of-day clocks, elapsed-time counter with freeze and pause functions, and adjustable event countdown timer. Touchscreen Timer can be slaved to the console timer, act as timer master, or operate independently. Touchscreen Timer Rackmount + 3-Position Accessory Rack Frame: Rackmount version of desktop timer accessory (left). 4RU Mounting frame provides CANBus and GPIO expansion ports and mounting positions for up to 3 studio accessory panels; includes internal Timer power supply

5. Choose your mixing engine. Some console companies try to sell you on doing things their way. Only Axia lets you choose between a distributed Mix Engine architecture or integrated console engine.
