Malibu, California’s Pepperdine University, home of student-run KWVS-FM,
recently upgraded their studio facilities with Axia IP-Audio equipment
and networked broadcast consoles.
Along with two 22-position Element 2.0 consoles, Pepperdine’s Axia
order includes several AES/EBU, Analog and Microphone audio nodes,
mixing engines, Call Controller modules that interface with Telos
Talkshow systems, and Axia iProFiler networked audio logging software.
Axia has become a favorite with university telecom departments, says
Axia vice-president Marty Sacks. “Axia systems are incredibly powerful,
but also incredibly easy to learn,” comments Sacks. “Putting Axia in
educational facilities is the perfect way to ensure that students are
familiar with the cutting-edge technology they’ll find in commercial
radio.”
Element 2.0, the latest version of Axia’s popular modular broadcast
console, has become a best-seller. In just 5 short years, over 1,500
Axia consoles have gone into service around the world. And the Axia
IP-Audio system allows broadcasters to build audio networks of any size
using standard switched Ethernet to connect a few rooms, or an entire
facility. Axia networks have a total system capacity of more than 10,000
audio streams, and can carry hundreds of digital stereo (or nearly a
hundred surround) channels over a single CAT-6 cable, eliminating much
of the cost normally associated with wiring labor and infrastructure.
