Voice of Russia (, Russia’s state-owned national broadcaster, has chosen Axia Livewire IP-Audio console/routing technology to power its new studio located in Washington, D.C. Voice of Russia, the successor to Radio Moscow, broadcasts throughout the world in over 30 languages; this installation marks its first time originating program material in the U.S.

Voice of Russia is a repeat Axia client, having equipped their main studios in Moscow, Russia with multiple Element consoles and a Livewire routing network in March, 2010.

This sale, made through St. Petersburg, Russia-based Axia representative TRACT Ltd., includes a 20-position Element 2.0 mixing console, PowerStation integrated console engine, Axia Audio Nodes for interfacing with analog and AES/EBU audio sources, and Axia Pathfinder PRO Router Control software.

Axia technology has proved popular in Russia. Other Axia installations in Russia include such well-known broadcasters as Moscow’s Business-FM, Lagardere’s European Media Group radio stations in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and eight Radio Russia stations in Orenburg, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Yaroslavl, Rostov na Donu, Samara, Kursk and Ekaterinburg.

Axia allows broadcasters to quickly and easily build audio networks using switched Ethernet to connect a few rooms, or an entire facility. Axia networks have a total system capacity of more than 10,000 audio streams, and can carry hundreds of digital stereo channels (plus machine logic and PAD) over a single CAT-6 cable, eliminating much of the cost normally associated with wiring labor and infrastructure. Axia radio consoles are a hit, with installations in over 2,000 studios worldwide.
