Axia releases upgrade to IP-Audio Driver

New version supports 24 stereo streams

14 November 2007, Cleveland Ohio, USA

Axia Audio is pleased to announce the release of Version of their IP-Audio Driver for Windows®. This new release is a significant upgrade with several new features, increasing the number of supported streams from 16 to 24 in the OEM version available from Axia Software Partners. Broadcasters using a previous version are encouraged to obtain the update, which is available for free to registered users.

Axia’s IP-Audio Driver makes it possible to extract premium quality digital audio from a standard PC — without the need for a sound card. A PC with the IP-Audio Driver becomes an Axia “audio node”; its Ethernet port connects directly to the Livewire network, and the Axia driver handles all necessary audio conversions. The PC can then send stereo audio to any network destination, and can simultaneously record or audition any other network source as well.

Axia’s IP-Audio Driver enables users to avoid the cost of router or console audio inputs normally required by hardwired routing systems. For broadcasters with highly-computerized studios, savings can be significant.

New features in Version include:

  • 24 stereo audio streams for multi-channel OEM users.
  • New audio metering, clipping and silence detection functions are included.
  • Enhanced real-time monitoring of audio stream statistics.

The Axia IP-Audio Driver comes in two versions: a one-input, one-output version for use with audio editing workstations, and a 24-in/24-out version available directly from Axia Delivery System partners. Users of the single-stream IP-Audio Driver may download a software update; users with the multi-stream version can obtain the update directly from their delivery system provider.

A growing number of delivery system providers support the Livewire IP-Audio standard. for a complete list. For more information about the Axia IP-Audio Driver, contact Clark Novak at
