Collaboration With Crown Broadcast Receives Kudos at NAB
5 May 2003, Cleveland, OH USA
Omnia Audio and transmitter manufacturer Crown Broadcast have earned a “Cool Stuff” award from industry trade magazine Radio World. Collaboration between the two firms produced the world’s first transmitter-integrated digital audio processor, which allows owners of current Crown Broadcast FM-series or new FMX-series transmitters to incorporate Omnia audio processing directly into their transmission equipment. The Radio World “Cool Stuff” award is given each year to the best new products shown at the Spring NAB convention in Las Vegas.
“Our goal in working with Omnia was very simple: we wanted to offer our customers a state-of-the-art digital audio processor as an integral part of their Crown transmitters,” says Dave McLaughlin, Director of Marketing for Crown Broadcast. “Omnia’s success and reputation made their product our first choice, and we were very pleased when they agreed to the project. The result of this partnership, the Crown DP3 Digital Processing card by Omnia, is an important audio tool for our new customers, and a valuable field upgrade for our long list of current Crown users.”
The Crown/Omnia DP3 is an available option on all Crown Broadcast transmitter models, and is available as a field upgrade for Crown transmitters already in use. The DP3 offers users 48 kHz, 24-bit audio processing with three bands of limiting and a wideband AGC. In addition to front-panel control, users can adjust processing options remotely via Ethernet. To assist new users in quickly configuring processing, the DP3 includes a complete set of factory presets developed by Omnia Audio.
“We’ve enjoyed working with Crown, and it’s exciting to watch the fruits of our labor pay off,” comments Frank Foti, President of Omnia Audio. “We’re looking forward to more such collaborations in the future.”
Omnia audio processors are preferred by leading radio stations around the world; recent surveys find Omnia in use on more than half of the 100 highest-rated FM stations in the US – more than all other brands combined. Internationally, Omnia processors are relied upon by Virgin Radio, NRJ, The BBC, Deutsche Telekom, YLE, RTL, Skyrock and many other leading broadcasters.
Omnia, a Telos company, is world-renowned for its digital audio signal processing expertise. Omnia audio processors for FM, AM, TV, HD Radio & DAB, Internet, and audio production are setting new standards for professional audio quality.
