Radio Trausnitz upgrades to Axia

New studios in Landshut, Germany to sign on soon

04 September 2009, Cleveland Ohio, USA

Funkhaus Landshut, in Landshut, Germany, will soon be broadcasting from new studios powered by Axia IP-Audio consoles and networks.

Radio Trausnitz (, playing a mix of oldies and current pop, is a regional broadcaster serving Bavaria. The Axia system for their main air studio includes a custom, flat-mounted 20-position Element 2.0 console with an Element Call Controller to interface with a Telos Nx12 broadcast phone system, plus an assortment of Axia Audio Nodes, Router Selector nodes, and studio accessory panels. Axia IP-Audio Drivers interface production and digital delivery PCs directly to the Axia network.

The Axia equipment was sold by P+P Nachrichtentechnik of Regensburg, Axia’s German distributor, who is also responsible for installation and systems integration.

"The Radio Trausnitz studio was 12 years old," says Peter Passian, president of P+P. "We are doing a ground-up rebuild using Axia Audio equipment and playout systems from Zenon Media, who is an Axia partner."

Axia IP-Audio networks allow broadcasters to build audio networks of any size using standard switched Ethernet to connect a few rooms, or an entire facility. Axia networks have a total system capacity of more than 10,000 audio streams, and can carry hundreds of digital stereo (or nearly a hundred surround) channels over a single CAT-6 cable, eliminating much of the cost normally associated with wiring labor and infrastructure. Element 2.0, the latest version of Axia's popular modular broadcast console, is a best-seller; over 1,500 Axia consoles have been installed around the world in just 6 short years.
